I believe that you are more than a diagnosis—and that healing starts with feeling seen, heard, and empowered.

Dr. Lauren Manning on Mount Desert Island

My work is grounded in the belief that we all have an innate capacity for growth and wellness. There’s so much we can do within the treatment relationship to support and even enhance the effectiveness of medication. That’s why I especially enjoy working with people who’ve had difficult or disappointing experiences with psychiatric medications in the past. When we approach things slowly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively, it creates space for a different kind of experience. My goal is to help you feel heard and in control every step of the way, so we can find what truly works for you.

I take a personalized, integrative approach that considers your unique story, values, and goals, combining psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and thoughtful use of medication to support meaningful change. My office is located in the village of Seal Harbor on Mount Desert Island close to the trails of Acadia National Park. Both telehealth and in-person visits are available for patients in Maine.

Treatment Modalities

  • Depth-oriented therapy to explore patterns, relationships, and emotional resilience.

I practice in an attachment-informed, relationship-oriented way. I enjoy helping patients explore the roots of maladaptive belief patterns. Therapy helps to increase self-understanding and create lasting change.

  • Family treatment grounded in a family systems and attachment-based framework. I work with families to improve communication, reduce conflict, and strengthen emotional connection across generations. We start by exploring a family’s unique strengths and from that understanding work to give voice to each member of the family so that they can find new ways of relating.

  • This support helps parents understand their child’s needs, trust their instincts, and break out of reactive or anxiety-driven parenting patterns. We begin by exploring parents' own experiences of childhood, how they were parented and their hopes and dreams for their children. From there, I tailor my approach to the specific challenges a family is facing, while connecting back to these foundational themes.

  • Whether trauma is named or unspoken, I bring a lens of safety, compassion, and context to all our work. I will help you make sense of your reactions without pathologizing them.

  • Mindfulness, bright light therapy, supplements, lifestyle coaching, and behavioral strategies to support whole-person wellness.

  • I aim to provide thoughtful, personalized prescribing that respects your preferences, fears, and past experiences. For patients feeling overwhelmed by complex or excessive medication regimens, we work carefully to simplify treatment and minimize side effects while preserving what's effective.

A Note on Treatment …

I strive to make our time together feel truly nonjudgmental. Many of my patients have shared that this makes it easier to open up about the different approaches they’re trying, such as supplements, alternative therapies, or other healing modalities. If you’re exploring something I’m not familiar with, I’ll be honest about that and I’m always happy to look into it and follow up with what I find. This openness helps me learn what’s important and helpful to you.

When I do have concerns—like if something might be unsafe or could interfere with your medication—I’ll tell you honestly to make sure we’re making informed decisions together. Treatment is always collaborative — never one-size-fits-all.

Appointment Types & Fees

I believe access to high-quality mental health care should not depend on financial privilege. To support this, I offer a tiered fee structure rooted in trust, reflection, and community.

You are invited to select the tier that best fits your current financial reality. No documentation is required—just honesty, self-awareness, and a shared commitment to equity. You may adjust tiers as your circumstances change. I reserve 10 spaces for tier 1 clients; when this is full, I maintain a short tier 1 waitlist. Tiers 2-4 are uncapped. I invite you to select that rate that feels both manageable and honest for your circumstances. Everyone at the standard and supporter tiers make it possible for others to access care at a reduced cost.

I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans. This allows me to offer thoughtful, unhurried care tailored to your needs rather than insurance requirements. To support you in using your benefits, I provide superbills for reimbursement and partner with Reimbursify to make claim submission simple.
